We don't pull weeds.
We tell divers where to pull them.
Milfoil Finder is a data and technology company, not an extraction service. We process hydro-acoustic sonar data into decision-ready maps so the people on the water — divers, consultants, lake associations — can stop guessing and start targeting.
The industry was built for chemicals, not precision.
For decades, aquatic invasive species management has run on herbicide schedules and rake-toss surveys — blunt tools that treat symptoms, miss root crowns, and leave lake boards with no proof anything worked. As states tighten chemical permits and the DASH method proves out, the bottleneck has shifted from how to remove milfoil to how to find it accurately enough to remove it efficiently.
That's the gap we close. We take the raw sonar logs a boat captain collects in an afternoon and turn them into GIS-grade strike plans a dive team can quote against and a lake board can verify against. No Guesswork.
Three principles the business runs on.
Data first
Every recommendation we make is defensible against a map. We'd rather delay a delivery by a day to QA a scan than ship something a dive team will question on the water.
Bring your own kit
If your boat already has a sonar system, we work with it. If it doesn't, we'll recommend a unit depending on your needs that range from $500 - $1200 — not lock you into a $10K install you'll use six times a year.
Pay per project
No annual subscriptions, no seat licenses, no usage tiers. You pay when you need a scan processed. Seasonal retainers exist for volume teams, but they're opt-in, not gated.
Mapping for anywhere with sonar data.
The work is data-first, the processing side is location-independent. If your team can drive a boat and or kayak around the edge of a lake and upload the log, we can deliver the map.
- Remote processing: Nationwide — if you can ship us a .sl2, .slg, or Deeper app file, we can process it.
